Hello and thank you for checking out Nourish To Flourish Naturopathy. A little about myself and my own wellness journey. I started my self-healing journey in 2012 after my second ‘unexplained’ ectopic pregnancy. I had my first ectopic pregnancy back in 2010 and didn’t really think too much of it however after the second I started asking more questions and finding very few answers. The medical explanation I received was “sometimes these things just happen”. It seemed so strange that the doctors couldn't identify any underlying issues, yet this occurred not once but twice!
How could my medical diagnosis be classified as ‘unexplained’ when there was clearly something wrong. I ended up having both of my tubes removed due to the ectopic pregnancies, thus further challenged with fertility complications with my next two children, requiring IVF to conceive. Undergoing IVF brought its own challenges, in addition to being diagnosed with Adenomyosis. I was offered medication to minimise the Adenomyosis growth and increase fertility outcomes (implantation) however this just didn't sit right and I opted out. At this stage, I began seeing a Naturopath to support my fertility journey and wellness (for anyone going through, thinking of, or has gone through IVF I'm sure you would agree with me when I say my body was under a lot of stress!). Through the support of my Naturopath, I successfully conceived both my second and third little munchkins through IVF. Being able to experience first-hand the power of nutritional and herbal medicines across my own fertility journey has led me to where I am today.

In amongst undergoing IVF, raising a family and working I decided to follow my passion and enrolled to complete a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy (BHSc.Nat). Five years later, I was ready to leap into my own practice however the universe had a different plan set for me and I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer (BC). At 40, my life was turned upside down. How in the world could this happen to me, my family? I was fit, healthy and had no family history of BC. It was at this point I realised that perhaps all those years of study were to support my own health to overcome the battle that lye ahead. I sadly had to put my practice on hold and focus on my own health. After digesting the initial shock of my diagnosis, I decided to follow the advice of my medical oncologist and accept conventional treatment and complement this with my own natural health knowledge and treatment. Today, I am cancer free! While I continue to follow the advice of my oncologists, I am also an advocate of my own health and support my journey naturally through diet, lifestyle, supplementation and herbs.

I offer my clients a truly integrative approach to naturopathic medicine, by incorporating modern scientific advances, ancient traditions, and holistic wellness. My treatment strategy is based on providing education and resources to my clients and encouraging them to follow their goals in health and life in general. Being well informed about your health condition will give you the power to manage your own health while implementing sustainable self-care techniques along the way. I believe in a collaborative and client empowered model of naturopathic medicine and together will create an individualised plan to guide your back to health.

In addition to holding a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy Distinction (BHSc. Nat ) I also have completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA. Hist), Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology (PostGradDipPsych), and a 300hr Yoga Teacher Trainer Certification. Evidence is important to me thus everything I say can be backed up with scientific support.

Why Naturopathy?
Naturopathic medicine is a holistic, individualised approach to improving health and treating illness. The focus of naturopathic treatment is to support and stimulate the body’s ability to heal itself, resulting in optimal health, not simply management of disease symptoms. This is achieved through education, minimising symptoms of illness, supporting the body's capacity to heal, and balancing the body so illness is less likely to occur in the future.

Naturopaths use a variety of techniques, including lifestyle medicine, nutritional counselling, nutritional supplements, and botanical (herbal) medicines. These techniques are often combined to create an individualised treatment plan reflecting their health concern or concerns, health priorities, lifestyle demands and any other challenges or obstacles that may be present.

What to expect

The initial consultation runs for 60-80mins and primarily focuses on gathering the information required to create an effective treatment plan for meeting your health goals. The information collected may include the history of your main and related health concerns, family and medical history, discussion of the information included in your intake forms, information about lifestyle factors that may provide challenges to successful treatment, physical examination findings, and in some cases recommendations for further pathology testing.

Follow-up appointments are scheduled according to health goals, and your response to treatment. They range from 30-45mins depending on the complexity of the treatment goals.

While every patient’s treatment plan is individualised, all plans include nutritional and lifestyle prescriptions to support a return to health, supported with use of natural medicines (e.g., herbal medicines) or supplementation to stimulate healing. A comprehensive treatment plan will be provided at follow-up consultation.

The ultimate goal of naturopathic treatment is for you to be empowered with the knowledge to take control of your own health, requiring consultation annually to monitor maintenance of health improvements.
